Mining Operations Performance — Measure Guide

Operator write-up of the locked measures on the Mining Operations Performance board — for mine ops, mill/metallurgy, cost control, site GMs, and corporate ops analytics. Explains what each KPI means on the ground, how it is calculated in the model, and which page carries it. Built for multi-mine underground and mill portfolios on a silver–lead–zinc (Ag-eq) reporting basis.

Core concepts

This board is a morning-ready ops view for a multi-mine portfolio: ore and grade, plant recovery, payable metal, unit costs on an Ag-equivalent basis, free cash flow, and site scorecards. Every KPI is meant to mean the same thing on every page because it is locked in one Import semantic model — not rebuilt per chart.

MTD (month-to-date)
Most production, grade, recovery, and metal measures filter to DimDateV2[IsMTD] = TRUE — the current reporting month through the as-of day in the sample (showcase: Mar 1–24, 2026). Cash and some plan/bridge measures use a period key (current period = 1).
Mine / site
Dimension DimMineV2: Silver Valley UG, Coastal Polymetallic, Eastern District, Northern High-Grade in the sample. Filters and scorecards use the same mine grain everywhere.
Ag-equivalent (Ag-eq)
Portfolio metal and unit costs are reported on a consistent silver-equivalent ounce basis so polymetallic and multi-site portfolios can be compared without mixing units. Conversion factors and payable definitions are fixed in the model for the showcase; a live pilot uses your metal prices, payability, and TC/RC terms.
One semantic model
Facts (mill daily, metal production, costs, bridges, cash flow, inventory) join shared dimensions (date, mine, metal, cost component, circuit). Weighted grades and recoveries use the same ore denominator rules on Operations overview, Ore & grade, and Mill & recovery.

Ore & production volume

These answer: How much rock moved and milled this month? Volume is the backbone for weighted grade, dilution, and unit costs per tonne.

Measure Operator meaning Calculation
Ore Milled kt Dry tonnes through the mill MTD, in thousands of tonnes. Primary volume KPI for the portfolio and each site. SUM(FactMillDailyV2[OreMilled_t]) / 1000 where IsMTD
Ore Hoisted kt Underground hoist / mine production to surface MTD. Compare to milled to see stockpile draw or lag. SUM(OreHoisted_t) / 1000, IsMTD
Ore Moved kt Total ore movement MTD (by ore type / movement stream when sliced). SUM(FactOreMovementDailyV2[Ore_t]) / 1000, IsMTD
Stockpile Balance kt On-hand stockpile balance (snapshot grain). Cover for the mill when hoist and mill diverge. SUM(FactStockpileSnapshotV2[Balance_kt])

Portfolio lock check (showcase MTD)

Site ore milled sum = portfolio ore milled
52.4 + 71.8 + 38.2 + 21.8 = 184.2 kt

Head grade & dilution

Grades are ore-weighted, not a simple average of daily grade rows — so a high-tonnage day dominates the MTD head grade the way a plant metallurgist expects.

Measure Operator meaning Calculation
Ag Head Grade g/t Silver head grade into the mill (g/t), weighted by ore milled. Showcase lock ~412 g/t vs plan 394. SUMX(OreMilled_t × AgHeadGrade_gt) / SUM(OreMilled_t), IsMTD
Pb Head Grade % / Zn Head Grade % Lead / zinc head grades (%), same ore-weighted rule. Same pattern on Pb/Zn head grade columns
Dilution % Mine dilution into mill feed, ore-weighted. Higher dilution dilutes grade and can hurt recovery and unit costs. Ore-weighted average of Dilution_pct

Operator note: Au-primary sites (e.g. Eastern District in the sample) may show blank Ag grade when Ag is not the reporting metal for that site; portfolio Ag grade is driven by Ag-bearing tonnes.

Mill recovery & plant health

Recovery is metal recovered over metal contained in feed — not a visual estimate. Plant health metrics sit beside recovery so a soft recovery day can be read against availability, utilization, and downtime.

Measure Operator meaning Calculation
Ag Recovery % Silver plant recovery MTD. Showcase ~91.8% vs plan 91.0%. SUM(AgRecovered_oz) / SUM(AgContained_oz) × 100, IsMTD
Pb Recovery % / Zn Recovery % Lead / zinc recovery on the same contained vs recovered basis. Recovered / Contained × 100 for Pb and Zn tonnes
Throughput tpd Average daily mill throughput (tpd) across MTD days. Average over MTD dates of daily SUM(Throughput_tpd)
Availability % Plant available time vs calendar / scheduled basis (as stored on mill daily). AVERAGE(Availability_pct), IsMTD
Utilization % How hard the plant runs when available. AVERAGE(Utilization_pct), IsMTD
OEE proxy % Single plant-efficiency proxy for trend (not a full OEE audit system). AVERAGE(OeeProxy_pct), IsMTD
P80 um, Power Draw MW, kWh / t, Reagent $/t Grind size, power, specific energy, reagent intensity — mill technical strip. Averages / daily rollups on FactMillDailyV2, IsMTD
Downtime Hours / Unplanned DT h Downtime total and unplanned hours for circuit / reliability review. SUM of downtime hours (category fact / mill unplanned)
Circuit Feed tpd / Circuit Recovery % Circuit-level feed and recovery when sliced by DimCircuitV2. From FactCircuitDailyV2

Payable metal & Ag-eq

Payable metal is what you get paid for after payability — not contained metal in ore. Ag-eq rolls the portfolio onto one metal basis for plan bridges and unit costs.

Measure Operator meaning Calculation
Payable Ag Moz Payable silver MTD (million ounces). SUM(PayableQty) where MetalCode = Ag, IsMTD
Payable Pb kt / Payable Zn kt Payable lead / zinc MTD (kt). Same on MetalCode Pb / Zn
Payable AgEq Moz Payable silver-equivalent Moz for the portfolio (and sites when filtered). SUM(PayableQty) where MetalCode = AgEq, IsMTD
Payable Metal Qty Generic payable quantity in current metal filter context (charts / matrix). SUM PayableQty, IsMTD

Site Ag-eq sum = portfolio (showcase)

0.92 + 1.14 + 0.41 + 0.57 = 3.04 Moz Ag-eq

Plan & cash bridges

Bridges explain why you are off plan — volume, grade, recovery, price — instead of a single red variance. Steps live in bridge dimensions so the chart is data-driven, not hard-coded shapes.

Measure Operator meaning Calculation
AgEq Bridge Moz Waterfall values for payable Ag-eq vs plan (start plan, deltas, end actual). SUM(FactBridgeAgEqV2[ValueMoz]) by bridge step
FCF Bridge $M Free cash flow bridge ($M) by cash step (e.g. NSR → costs → sustaining → FCF). SUM(FactBridgeFcfV2[ValueUsdM])

Showcase Ag-eq plan bridge identity

2.86 + 0.12 + 0.08 + 0.04 − 0.06 = 3.04 Moz

Showcase FCF bridge identity

41.0 − 12.8 − 5.5 = 22.7 $M FCF

Unit costs, cash cost & AISC

Unit costs are reported per payable Ag-eq ounce so sites and the portfolio share one language. AISC includes the cost components flagged IsAISC in the cost dimension (mining, process, G&A, TC/RC, sustaining, exploration — as mapped in the showcase). Cash cost uses the IsCashCost subset (excludes sustaining / exploration per the board’s split).

Measure Operator meaning Calculation
AISC AgEq $/oz All-in sustaining cost per Ag-eq oz. Showcase ~$14.62 vs plan $15.10. SUM(CostUsd where IsAISC) / (Payable AgEq Moz × 1e6)
Cash Cost AgEq $/oz Cash operating cost per Ag-eq oz (tighter than AISC). Showcase ~$9.84. SUM(CostUsd where IsCashCost) / AgEq oz
AISC Component $/oz Cost per Ag-eq oz for the cost component in filter context (AISC stack bars). Component cost / AgEq oz (denom ignores component filter)
UG Mining Cost $/t / Mill Cost $/t Unit mining / mill cost per tonne milled (showcase display constants on model). Per-tonne cost measures on mill ore base

Showcase AISC stack ($/oz Ag-eq)

Mining 5.40 + Process 2.85 + G&A 1.12 + TC/RC 0.47
+ Sust. capex 3.92 + Exploration 0.86 = 14.62

Pilot note: Real AISC definitions (World Gold Council style vs company internal, what sits in sustaining vs growth capex, treatment of by-product credits) are agreed in scoping. The board enforces one definition everywhere once locked.

NSR, sustaining capex & free cash flow

Measure Operator meaning Calculation
NSR $M Net smelter return for the current reporting period ($M). SUM(FactCashFlowPeriodV2[NsrUsdM]), PeriodKey = 1
Sustaining Capex $M Sustaining capital program ($M) for the period. SUM(SustCapexProgramUsdM), PeriodKey = 1
Free Cash Flow $M Period free cash flow ($M) after the model’s cost and sustaining stack. SUM(FreeCashFlowUsdM), PeriodKey = 1

Inventory, stockpile & shipments

Measure Operator meaning Calculation
Inventory Qty / Cover Days Concentrate / product on hand and days of cover vs targets. FactInventorySnapshotV2 as-of snapshot
Shipped Qty / Schedule Qty Actual vs scheduled shipments for the period (logistics discipline). FactShipmentPeriodV2

Data notes & pilot framing

  • Sample data. Public demo numbers are a realistic multi-mine Ag–Pb–Zn portfolio (MTD Mar 2026). They are not any customer’s production figures.
  • Pilot maps to your truth. Ore movements, mill tags, metal accounting, cost codes, and AISC policy come from your systems and definitions. The product is the model + board pattern, not the sample seed.
  • Reconciliation first. Site sums must equal portfolio for ore, Ag-eq, and AISC components before the board is trusted in a morning meeting.
  • Import model. Measures are locked in the semantic layer so ops and finance argue about the rock — not about whose spreadsheet is right.
  • Companion brochure. Visual callouts: /docs/mining-ops-performance.
